Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Chronic pain is something that plagues many of us.  Unfortunately, many people are unaware that there are options for reducing chronic pain other than prescription drugs or over-the-counter oral  medications.  And, many people are unaware of the serious side effects some of these seemingly innocuous products can introduce.
A good solution to this problem is to apply the pain relieving product directly to the offending area as a trans-dermal skin cream. This eliminates the gastro-intestinal problems that plague many of these drugs.  With skin creams, herbs and other natural products can be used to enhance the effect of the drug allowing less drug to be used.

This newsletter discusses the benefits and drawbacks of several pain drugs and presents some alternative methods for helping to deal with minor chronic pain.
Trans-Dermal Solutions for Chronic Pain
Over the counter pain control creams that are used externally can help relieve pain without the risk of gastro-intestinal side effects.
Routine Consumption of Aspirin to Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes "A Big Lie"
Many people take aspirin to reduce their risk of heart attacks and stroke. Others pop asprins like candy when they have minor joint or muscle pain. Researchers have found that a daily aspirin appears to increase a person's risk of dangerous gastric bleeding as much as it decreases their risk of heart attack or stroke.
Natural solutions for pain management
Natural pain relievers are not as strong as prescription or over the counter drugs, but they are much gentler on your liver!
Pain and Vitamin D Deficiency
One little known, but extremely common symptom of Vitamin D deficiency is Pain. From bone pain to muscle pain to back pain, any and all unexplained pain COULD have vitamin D deficiency as its cause. Unfortunately, most doctors do not recognize common pain issues as being from vitamin D deficiency, leaving thousands of chronic pain patients suffering for years.
Supplements for Arthritis and Joint Pain
Many people take vitamins and supplements to help ease joint pain and arthritis.  This WebMD article talks about their use.
Fish oil supplements may help to alleviate chronic pain.
Fish oil, a naturally occurring compound found in salmon and other cold-water fish, has recently developed a popular following as a dietary supplement. To add to its health-boosting reputation, studies are now suggesting that fish oil can be effective as a pain remedy.
Note: There is a general misconception about fish oil supplements.  Many of my clients take prescription "lipid-regulating agents" like Lovaza, or "prescription fish oil" under the false impression that it is stronger or purer or more mercury free than similar supplements.  Virtually all reputable supplement manufacturers use a distilling process to produce Omega-3 fish oil products, thus eliminating all traces of heavy metals like mercury.  So, while drugs like Lovaza cost significantly more, they do not provide any additional benefit.

Support These Critical Health Freedom Bills
Dr. Ron Paul, a Texas Congressman has introduced two critical Bills in congress: H.R. 3395 - The Health Freedom Act, and H.R. 3394 - The Freedom of Health Speech Act.  Combined, these two bills prevent the Federal Trade Commission from taking action against anyone communicating a health benefit for a product they offer, unless the FTC first establishes, based on clear and convincing evidence, that the statement made is false and that its communication causes harm to the public.
I urge you to contact your representative to support these bills for our mutual health freedom.
Court Asked to Rule on Selenium Claims
The legal firm behind two actions that challenge the US qualified health claims system has asked a District of Columbia District Court to issue a summary judgment against the FDA over its selenium claims.  This action asks that the court issue an order holding the FDA's censorship unconstitutional for breaching First Amendment freedom of speech rights, and further asks the court to enjoin the FDA from taking any action to censor the plaintiffs' claims.

FDA Petition
There are many substances other than pharmaceuticals that are of value to human health.  The FDA's practice of censoring, raiding, intimidating, and harassing manufacturer's that provide scientific information about natural substances is unconscionable.
Along with many natural health organizations and practitioners, I support the call to action by William Faloon, founder of the Life Extension Foundation to reorganize and reform the FDA and eliminate its bias against natural substances. A comprehensive petition to the FDA is being circulated with a goal of obtaining 100,000 signatures.  It will be sent in a report delivered to every member of the House and Senate as well as the office of President Barack Obama. As this is a U.S. petition, it is open only to U.S. citizens and residents.
To date, nearly 50,000 signatures have been added to this petition. I have signed it and I sincerely hope you will too.  Our access to safe natural products depends on all of us!

New Website Launch
I am pleased to announce that I have launched the beginning of my new website, "Health Naturally Today".  It will be a "sister" site to the current "Prostate Health Naturally" site, and devoted primarily to female issues.
Health Naturally Today will also be the main entry point for both male and female health discussions.  Right now there is no real content on this site, and it simply leads you to the current site.  But -- more is coming.
As I add content, the two sites will be seamlessly linked together so that you will be able to choose to view male or female issues as desired.
This site will add a new email address of:
You can reach me on this new address as well as the previous address or leave me a message through the "contact us" button of either site.
New Page - Transdermal Pain Management Creams
Finally, this month I have added the first pain management page with trans-dermal (through the skin) pain creams.  In the near future, I will also be adding a second page for pain management supplements in capsule form. Hopefully it will be up and running in a week or two.  However, we do have have all the products in stock. Feel free to call me directly if you need something that is not on the website.  If you are confused and don't know exactly which product might help you most, I'll be happy to help you choose. Feel free to call me at the number below.
Website and Email Problems
In the past week both my website and email were down due to curcumstances beyond my control.  However, I am in the process of changing servers so this will not happen again.  This change will take place starting Monday 11/30 and should take no more than a few days.  During that time period, you may find the website down, or you may get email returned to you, just wait an hour or two and try again. Most likely it will be OK on the second round. If your email is returned, use the new email address above which will not be affected.
To read any previous newsletter, visit our newsletter archive.  A link to the archive is on every main page of the website just below the newsletter sign-up box and also in the "page links" section of each newsletter issue.
As always, if you enjoy this newsletter (or hate it), feel free to contact me with your comments.  And, if you really like it, please forward it to a friend using the "Forward email" link below.
