Testosterone for Women
| |
Today's newsletter continues the previous theme with information about hormones for the ladies.
It discusses the pros and cons of using bio-identical hormones verses conventional hormone replacement therapy.
The articles in this newsletter are from several sources, but they all agree that proper use of bio-identical hormones to balance or adjust age-related hormone deficiencies is quite safe.

| Women Suffer Needlessly from Confusion about Hormones |
Many women are so confused and frightened about hormone replacement that they have decided to forget about it. This reaction is not surprising because almost daily there is a new scare headline blaring at them about how hormone replacement causes cancer or even brain shrinkage.

| A Woman's Guide To Natural And Bioidentical HRT |
Many women and their spouses are no longer satisfied with a comment from a clinician to the effect of "That stuff doesn't work" when referring to bioidentical hormones. Also, they don't consider a quick ten-minute assessment and a prescription for "estrogen pills" the answer either!
They demand more information about sexual health, androgen therapy, sexual issues, therapy for stress-induced adrenal fatigue and adrenal burnout, and they would like to do it in a way most naturally accepted by their bodies.

| New Study Says Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Reduces Breast Cancer Risk Compared to Standard HRT |
Synthetic forms of hormone replacement therapy like Premarin, Provera and Prempro present real health risks with increased risks of breast cancer, stroke and heart attack. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is both more effective and has greater health benefits.

| One-Year Therapy With 10mg/day DHEA Helps Raise Androgen Levels in Postmenopausal Women. |
DHEA is one of the most abundant hormones in the body, and like most other hormones, tends to decline with aging. This Italian study adds more concrete information about the effects of DHEA supplementation for post-menopausal women.

| Transdermal (through the skin) Natural Estrogen with Progesterone and Risk of Breast Cancer, Blood Clots or Other Problems |
Recent trials indicate that natural progesterone with estrogens confers less or even no risk of breast cancer as opposed to the use of synthetic progestins.
In addition, non-orally administered estrogens are associated with potential advantages for the cardiovascular system. In particular, the risk of developing deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary thromboembolism is negligible in comparison to that associated with oral estrogens.

| Do Fibroids Go Away at Menopause? |
Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that occur within the female uterus and affect 20 to 80 percent of women by the age of 50. Clinicians have observed that in some menopausal women uterine fibroids tend to shrink and disappear. In most women entering menopause, there is a high likelihood that fibroids will shrink and possibly disappear with the use of transdermal, bioidentical progesterone cream.

Legislation and Legal Issues |
We did it! Thanks to the action that many of us took, Arizona Senator John McCain has backed off from the bill he introduced that would have wiped out current legislative protections for dietary supplements.
Hundreds of thousands of messages poured into the Senate opposing his bill and it seems Senator McCain was quite embarrassed by the massive outpouring of negative press on hundreds of prominent natural health sites. Many of these sites had headlines pointing out that McCain did not seem to understand the consequences of his own bill.
A letter released on March 10 indicates McCain and Sen. Byron Dorgan from North Dakota have formed an agreement with longtime pro-dietary supplements campaigner, Republican Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah. Hopefully, this will result in meaningful legislation that will not restrict your access to dietary supplements.
Finally - Legislation to Protect Your Right to Know About the Science Behind Supplements!
The "Free Speech About Science Act", H.R. 4913. This landmark legislation protects basic free speech rights, ends censorship of science, and enables the natural health products community to share peer-reviewed scientific findings about natural health products with the public.
If this bill passes, it has the potential to transform the healthcare field. It will legally allow health care practitioners like myself to freely educate the public about the real science behind natural health. This is a small bill with vast potential leverage.

Website News |
As I mentioned in my last newsletter, my new website,
is operational and its entry page is now the home page for both websites. Thus, you will be able to seamlessly move from men's to women's issues and back. Some of the pages, like the newsletter archive and the products section are shared between both sites. Ladies take note that I am still working hard on the "Female Issues" section of the website, and hope to have it up and running within the next few weeks. To search for information or a product, simply click the "Site Search" button located at the top left of every main page. You will then see a search screen where you can enter a keyword (or keywords) to search the site for. Direct links to pages found allow you to quickly view information on many topics.
Our newsletter archive contains copies of all previous newsletters. A link to the archive is on every main page of the website just below the newsletter sign-up box and also in the "page links" section of each newsletter issue.
