Osteoporosis is a major worry for many women as they enter or pass through menopause.  Men, especially those being treated with androgen blocking drugs for Prostate Cancer, are also at high risk. Advertisements for bone-building drugs are plentiful and would lead you to believe that they will completely resolve your bone problems. However these drugs carry some real nasty side effects, and denser bones do not necessarily correlate to strong bones!

This newsletter talks about some of the truths and myths connected with aging bones, and gives you some insight into helping yourself avoid bone problems.

Myths About Bone Density and Osteoporosis

Recent news articles and as well as T.V. commercials seem to suggest that osteoporosis is becoming a major epidemic and that every aging woman (and some men) need to take prescription medication to make sure bones do not deteriorate into dust! Unfortunately, this is far from being true.

About Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition caused by an imbalance in the body's bone-building mechanism. It typically occurs in women after menopause, but can occur earlier in both men and women that are nutritionally deficient or who have severe hormone imbalances.

Bone Health, Osteoporosis and Bone Density Myths

People tend to believe that Calcium is the only think needed for bone health. However, studies show relying on Calcium alone is not enough. Studies also show that a high percentage North Americans do not meet the RDA levels for Magnesium or Vitamin D3, both of which are just as, if not more critical for bone health than calcium. Population studies show that higher Magnesium intake is associated with higher bone mineral density in older adults.

Osteoporosis Myth: The Dangers of High Bone Mineral Density

The present-day definitions of Osteopenia and Osteoporosis were arbitrarily conceived by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the early 90's and then projected upon millions of women's bodies seemingly in order to convince them they had a drug-treatable, though symptomless, disease.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for good health. Low levels of vitamin D are associated with increased risk of hip fractures. You need vitamin D to be able to utilize calcium you get from food. Around 300,000 people are hospitalized with hip fractures each year. Many die from complications after surgery, and many more survive but with severely diminished mobility and are therefore unable to live independently.

Medical Papers by Ghostwriters Pushed Therapy
Now isn't this pathetic! Newly unveiled court documents show that ghostwriters paid by a pharmaceutical company played a major role in producing 26 scientific papers backing the use of hormone replacement therapy in women, suggesting that the level of hidden industry influence on medical literature is broader than previously known.

It makes you wonder how many women suffered because of their greed. This medical consensus benefited Wyeth, the pharmaceutical company that paid a medical communications firm to draft the papers, as sales of its hormone drugs, called Premarin and Prempro, soared to nearly $2 billion in 2001.

Some 1500 documents revealed in litigation provide unprecedented insights into how pharmaceutical companies promote drugs, including the use of vendors to produce ghostwritten manuscripts and place them into medical journals. Dozens of ghostwritten reviews and commentaries published in medical journals and supplements were used to promote unproven benefits and downplay harms of menopausal hormone therapy.

Bioidentical Estriol Still Under Threat

A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows that women who take the synthetic estrogen replacement product Prempro®-a combination of a potent estrogen derived from pregnant mares' urine and a synthetic progestin-are twice as likely to die from breast cancer. This confirms a significant amount of other research that details increased risk of breast cancer as well as increased risk of kidney stones, lung cancer, heart attack, and stroke.

Web Site Changes and News

I have recently added several new products to my website. Many of them are on a new  page which you can reach with this "Special Supplements" link.  The new items range from food products like Coconut Oil and Ultra Greens, to special power herbals like Oregano Oil (a strong antiviral) and Stevia (a natural sweetener).

We now have access to laboratory blood tests through Labcorp. I have recently partnered with DirectLabs -- a leader in direct access laboratory testing. This allows me to offer a variety of important health and wellness blood chemistry tests extremely discounted prices. Results are confidential and available online. Blood is drawn at a local LabCorp drawing station thru a direct requisition sent to you via email. You can order tests directly thru me via a phone call or on my website. My prices and test descriptions are shown on their website, and are the same as if you bought the tests directly. However, if you order your tests from me directly, I handle all the paperwork and will help you review and understand your test by phone at no extra cost.  You can reach the test ordering page by clicking here

We have also recently added no interest financing for 6 months on the website thru PayPal and "Bill Me Later." This gives you six months to pay for all purchases over $99.00 at no additional cost.  You'll have the options to choose "Bill Me Later" when you reach the PayPal Checkout Cart.

Last, but certainly not least, we now have Vacuum Erection Devices (VED's) in stock for immediate shipping. For more info about them see Part 2 of my "Solutions for Erectile Dysfunction" article. All VED's are on sale this month. They may seem like an inconvenience, but if you have ED, believe me, you get used to one quickly, AND THEY WORK, even when Viagra and the other ED drugs don't.

Note: Payments for most items sold on my website are processed through PayPal, but certain items, specifically some sexual enhancement products, cannot be sold through PayPal.  I now have a secure ordering page specifically to process payments for these items. If you have orders for them as well as items in your PayPal cart, be assured that all the orders will be processed together and you will only be charged one shipping charge.
